About

Hip Scope is a student-run reference on hip arthroscopy and hip preservation, written and maintained at McMaster University. It is organised as a book: parts, groups of related sections, and individual sections that each carry a named author and their own reference list.

Sections are published as they are completed and revised as they are reviewed. Anything not yet written is marked "In prep" in the contents rather than left blank.

Content and attribution

The writing on this site is our own. The research it describes is not.

Every study, classification, measurement and finding set out here is the work of the authors cited beside it, and remains theirs. What we have done is read that literature, organise it, and write it up as a book. We claim the writing and the structure; we claim none of the underlying work.

That is why each section carries its own reference list rather than a shared bibliography, and why the Read on Rounds links go to the original papers. A summary is a starting point, not a substitute for the source - where something matters clinically, read the paper it came from.

If you believe something here misrepresents your work, or is used beyond fair academic citation, contact us and we will correct or remove it.

Using this site

Reference lists link out through Rounds wherever the reference carries a DOI, so a paper can be opened directly. Text size and contrast can be adjusted from the Aa control in the header, and the setting is remembered on this device.
